#MMBBR Books in the Classroom with Yvonne @HolidayHouseBks

Lost Dog
By: Michael Garland

For any beginning reader. Lost Dog is a GRL C book that has the most adorable main character. Pete wants to visit his grandma for her birthday but he gets lost when he decides to take another route. Along the way he meets new animals that help by giving him directions. When he finally gets to Grandma’s house he has the perfect birthday gift for her. I love the ‘I Like to Read’ books because they continue be “real” books for beginning readers. They even have a short blurb on the back that readers can use to get their mind ready to ready and make predictions. 4.5 stars

Crow Made a Friend
By: Margaret Peot

A GRL D book that can be used to teach the seasons in the context of a crow looking for a friend.  Crow is looking for a new friend but struggles with each friend staying around. Finally he finds a true friend and has many new friends when he has a family. This book can be used for teaching predicting with kindergarten students. Also after using this book as a read aloud young readers will easily be able to read it by themselves. The picture support throughout this book is another feature that will support beginning readers. 4 stars
